Astronaut and Maine native Chris Cassidy threw out the first pitch at the Sea Dogs game Friday night.
Cassidy was at Hadlock Field to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, which is officially on Saturday of next week.
The graduate of York High School says it’s great to celebrate NASA’s past, while still looking ahead at the future of space travel.
“We’ve got a lot of programs going at NASA full speed ahead to get us on the surface of the moon and then ultimately that’ll enable us to get to Mars in the not-too-distant future. So super exciting times in our space program,” Cassidy said.
Cassidy was selected as an astronaut by NASA in 2004, and is a veteran of two space flights.(source)
